Groups Guide

At Windy City Community Church we believe that small groups are vital to growth as a Christian. It is by joining a small group that you will become involved in the life of the church, give and receive care and develop meaningful, Christ-based relationships. Below is a list of small groups currently operating in our church. We strongly encourage you to check-out a group that fits your needs. If you have any other small group questions please feel free to contact Judy Trella at (773) 631-WCCC or send email to wcccchgo@ameritech.net.

For the net I am not listing phone numbers and/or email addresses because many people will not want all those phone calls or emails however if you do want to list your phone number and/or email address here (or anything else for your group). send me an email. On one hand giving your email and/or phone number will make life easier on everyone especially Judy, on the other hand you may not want to get phone calls or spam.

If you want me to keep your group listing up to date send me an email. I can also arrange it so that you can update the events of your group by yourself over the net in a matter of minutes. Write for details.

The actual meeting begins at 10:15 A.M. in the church fellowship hall, whereas the project of rolling bandage strips for a mission hospital in Liberia begins at 9:15. The meeting is concluded by noon at which time we enjoy a lunch together. We have a missionary speaker four times a year and a Bible study the other six meetings unless a missionary is available. We meet to promote missions primarily and take part in our missionaries’ endeavors by prayer. Each of our 14 couples and one single missionary, that our church supports financially, are brought to the Lord individually in prayers by name for blessing and effectiveness. We pray for their specific needs as they have been made known to us. Although mostly women attend, men are also welcome.

Next is February 7.

Women's Care Group

Beginning in January we will be studying The Beatitudes: Developing Spiritual Character by John Stott. We meet the first and third Fridays of each month from 7:15PM to 9:15PM with a social time afterwards.

They call us to be meek and merciful, poor in spirit and pure in heart, mourning and hungry, peacemakers and persecuted. These are the character traits that Jesus highlighted to describe what he looks for in all Christians. As we study them and integrate them in our lives, we will also receive the blessing that Jesus promised.

John Stott is one of the world's leading and most beloved Bible teachers and preachers. In this study you will explore Scripture side by side with John Stott, enhancing your own in-depth study with insights gained from his years of immersion in God's word.

Children's Ministries

Awana

Our Awana Clubs are part of thousands of Awana Clubs in churches around the world. The International Headquarters is located in Streamwood, Illinois. These Christian based community clubs are open to all youths and have children attending from many different faiths and denominations. While your child is not required to attend church, all of our church services and functions are open to everyone.

An Awana club meeting consists of three parts: Games, Music/Bible Story and Handbook Time. While the Church supplies the facilities and equipment each Awana clubber should bring 50 cents weekly to help defray the costs of treats and special supplies. There are additional costs for the Awana vests, T Shirts and handbooks. As an option to paying dues weekly you may pay $6.00 for each semester (Sep-Dec)/(Jan-May).

Our Awana Clubs are as follows:
CUBBIES: 3 & 4 year old boys and girls
SPARKS: Kindergarten through 2nd Grade boys and girls
TRUTH & TRAINING: 3rd through 5th Grade boys and girls
(formerly known as pals and chums)

Homeless Ministry

As you can find in our weekly bulletin that "Our mission is to build a community of believers marked by a passion for Jesus Christ, inspired by the grace of God and guided by the knowledge of His Word". We offer kindness and consideration to the poor. We believe that God wants the generosity of our church's support of this ministry to reflect his own free giving as he has blessed us, we should bless others.

We usually meet at the Mercy House, 6112 Navarre on the second Saturday of the month at 6:00 PM. We like to be on our way by 6:30-7:00 and wrap up between 10:00-10:30. Usually everything will be prepared when you arrive. Sandwiches, soup, drinks, fruit dishes, bags prepared with miscellaneous items, snacks, toiletry items, tract literature, as in "The Walk of Jesus" or "Footprints Left in Passing", Bibles, blankets and clothing. Our greatest usefulness may be to pass our understanding of God on to others, listening, helping, encouraging and giving.

A great act of love is giving oneself to others - any consideration is greatly appreciated, if not coming out with us, if you could spare any clothing for the seasons we go through. May God always bless you, your family and friends, all of us. A helping hand can lighten others' burden. In Jesus name.
